Dr Reuel Khoza will join the powerhouse of business leaders from across the globe, all recognised as change agents in their fields, as a keynote speaker at the upcoming SA REIT Conference in Sandton, next month.
Khoza is a distinguished businessperson and critical thinker. He is President of the Institute of Directors in Southern African (IoDSA), Chairman of Aka Capital, a former Chairman of Nedbank Group Limited and a director of several companies.
Delivering an address titled "Whereto South Africa?" - Khoza will look at the big issues that face South African business in 2016 and beyond. In doing so, he will offer his unique perspective as an Africanist who has been at the forefront of transformation in the South African political economy. Khoza is a seasoned voice on business leadership and corporate governance. He was involved in the formulation of the King Codes on Corporate Governance in both King II and King III.
Khoza rounds out a trio of hard-hitting keynote speakers at the SA REIT Conference 2016 - a trailblazing one-day executive conference focused on South Africa's listed property sector.
International business influencers and innovators headlining the conference include ex-CEO of Unibail-Radamco, Guillaume Poitrinal -- the driving force behind growing this European company into a global property giant. It is his first time speaking in South Africa. Forthright international keynote speaker Andrew Parsons, MD of Resolution Capital (Australia), will again challenge delegates with his thought-provoking ideas.
"Direct access to three such admired business leaders on a single insight-packed day is quite something," says Mark Stevens, Chairperson of the Marketing Committee of the SA REIT Association, which is hosting the conference. SA REIT represents South Africa's listed REIT (real estate investment trust) sector. Its members comprise all the country's listed REITs and represent more than R300 billion worth of property assets. The quality of these SA REITs influence our economy and the quality of people's lives.
The SA REIT Conference takes place on Thursday, 17 March 2016 at The Maslow in Sandton Central, with limited seats available at www.sareit.com/conference.php. The conference is sponsored by Property Finance at Nedbank Corporate and Investment Banking (NCIB). The conference's full programme addresses the key matters, trends and influences for South Africa's listed property sector, and its partner industries, right now.
PROFILES OF SA CONFERENCE 2016 REIT KEYNOTE SPEAKERS:
Poitrinal's matchless listed property prowess is extensively recognised. His appearance at the SA REIT Conference is a real coup for the South African business and real estate community.
Poitrinal was elected Chairman of the European Public Real Estate Association (EPRA), from 2009 to 2011. He was voted "Best CEO property sector – Europe" by Institutional Investors' buy side voters, each year from 2006 to 2013. French President François Holland has appointed Poitrinal as Co-Chair of the French Simplification Council by, where he is tasked with streamlining the administrative and fiscal formalities applied to French businesses.
Poitrinal joined Unibail in 1995, after a three-year stint at Morgan Stanley's M&A division in London and Paris. Poitrinal spent 18 years building up the leading European property company. During his tenure as Chairman and CEO, the company entered the CAC40 index, and merged with Rodamco to create Unibail-Rodamco, Europe's largest property company, while rewarding its shareholders and outperforming its major index benchmarks. Unibail-Rodamco Europe became the third largest shopping centre owner, operator and developer in the world, while Poitrinal was one of the youngest CEOs of a European listed company.
At the height of his professional career in 2013, Poitrinal left Unibail-Rodamco to take on the entrepreneurial challenge of building up his own company. When Poitrinal handed over the reins of Unibail-Rodamco, it had a market capitalisation of €18 billion, a standing real estate portfolio of €30 billion, a development pipeline of €6 billion and a leading position in the capital cities of 12 countries in Europe.
The outspoken Andrew Parsons is returning to SA REIT's second conference, this time to shine a light on lessons from Australia's property sector, as well as issues impacting REITS globally.
Managing Director of Resolution Capital in Australia, Parsons will share his insight gained through over 25-years in financial markets working for the Australian Stock Exchange, CS First Boston and Lend Lease. He is a past Chairman of the Property Council of Australia's Capital Markets Committee and is currently a serving member of the European Public Real Estate Association's Asian Index Committee.
