Growthpoint Properties is the winner of the Investment Analysts Society (IAS) Excellence in Financial Reporting and Communications Awards 2014 for the property sector.
The awards are earned by companies that display excellence in transparency, financial disclosure and communication with members of the IAS and the investment community. The rigorously selected award winners were announced at the JSE last week.
Growthpoint Properties' Managing Director, Estienne de Klerk, comments: "This award underscores Growthpoint's commitment to provide information to the market that is timely, accurate and meaningful. We are thrilled to receive the award and are especially pleased the quality of our governance, communication and reporting has been acknowledged by the analysts of the IAS."
De Klerk explains: "We know that providing information swiftly is essential for the key stakeholders in our business, so we make it a priority. We believe it is important to share our investment strategies and rationales with the market. It creates insight into how transactions benefit stakeholders and improve our sustainability."
Growthpoint is a JSE ALSI Top 40 Index company with combined assets valued at nearly R100 billion. As South Africa's largest JSE-listed REIT, Growthpoint owns and manages a diversified portfolio of 477 properties in South Africa, 51 properties in Australia through its investment in Growthpoint Properties Australia (GOZ) and a 50% interest in the properties at V&A Waterfront, Cape Town.
Each year the IAS recognises the skills of listed companies with its awards for excellence in providing and communicating market intelligence. An esteemed IAS award gives investors confidence in the quality of information provided to analyse the company.
De Klerk stresses the important role analysts play in communicating with investors and investment decision making. "By ensuring analysts have the latest market intelligence at hand, Growthpoint supports their success."
This is the fourth successive year that Growthpoint has been honoured for its disclosure and quality market intelligence by the IAS.
De Klerk notes: "Consistent communication and comprehensive disclosure creates a solid foundation for trust. We engage with our stakeholders actively and openly. Growthpoint constantly evaluates our market communication to find better ways and new channels to give a full and accurate picture of our business. For us this goes beyond providing the latest financial information. We want to share excellent insight into all aspects of our business."
